Relaxing Music Therapy

Great way to unwind for at the end of the day by watching fish swim nonchalantly in an aquarium while listen to the accompanying relaxing music. Check this out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zql2t8uC4M&hl=en-GB&gl=SG

War of the Roses 2014

Recently, my friend, Gary Teo, visited the "War of the Roses" floral display at the Gardens by the Bay. The following are the beautiful pictures taken by him. Enjoy!

The Garden of Our Mind

"Our thoughts are like seeds planted in our own lives. Our minds are like a garden. We can cultivate our minds and plant the seeds we want to grow, or we can neglect it and allow the weeds to take over. Either way, it will bring a harvest into our lives." -- Dennis Burke

“The world we have created is a product of our way of thinking.” ~ Albert Einstein

“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I am in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness.

If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely. ~ Roald dahl

Don't Give Up

Get inspired and listen to:  Jason Mraz -- I Won't Give Up

When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
Well there's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space
To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

'Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We've got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No, I won't give up

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use the tools and gifts
We got yeah we got a lot at stake
And in the end,
You're still my friend at least we didn't tend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn, how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I got, and what I'm not
And who I am

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up
I'm still looking up

I won't give up on us
God knows I'm tough, he knows
We got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up...

In Many Words

If you enjoy saying things in a lengthy or round about way, then the following two clips may be of some interest to you:-

Speaking of books, George Crabbe described them as:

"Silent they are, but, though deprived of sound
Here all the living languages abound;
Here all that live no more, preserved they lie,
In tombs that open to the curious eye."

And, this one came from some health journal I vaguely recall:

"Normal, legally-sanctioned exercise of conjugal rights with one's spouse is known to produce endorphins which have very pleasant and relaxing effects on the body."

Ten Things to Always Remember ... and One Thing to Never Forget

Ten Things to Always Remember …. and One Thing to Never Forget
By Douglas Pagels

1. Your presence is a present to the world.
2. You’re truly one of a kind.
3. Your life can be what you want it to be.
4. Take the days one at a time.
5. Count your blessings, not your troubles.
6. You’ll make it through whatever comes along.
7. Within you are so many answers.
8. Have courage.
9. Be strong.
10. Wish upon a star, and don’t ever forget … how very special you.

We are worth billions

In my blog of 15 June 2013, I wrote that “our body is worth billions. For example, a pair of healthy eyes is simply priceless. Tonnes of money in research and development would not be able to produce sight for the blind. Ditto for our brain and so forth.”

While it’s a bad situation with part-of-the-way redemption, a recent news report shed light on the sum of USD 58 million awarded to Mr Antonio Lopez Chaj in Torrance Superior Court, Los Angeles, for about 25% of his skull which was bashed in.
As a result, Mr Chaj (chy), a house painter, suffers from severe brain damage, has lost his ability to speak, requires more surgeries as well as round-the-clock nursing care.
He was assaulted while trying to intercede in an attack by a bartender-manager and security guard on his two nephews. It was reported that he was beaten with a baton, kicked in the head eight times and had his skull smashed against a pavement four times.
It is gruesome to lose what we have. So, let this sober us up to appreciate what we do have. Money can’t buy back or restore fully our missing body parts.  I wish Mr Chaj a good recovery despite this setback.

For your further contemplation, here are some quotes on health is wealth:-
“Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.” -- Henry David Thoreau

“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.” -- Mahatma Gandhi
“When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost.” -- Billy Graham
