Anne-Marie's rendition of "2002" is flawless and enduring, and it is no wonder that the fans love it. This song is also appealing as the lyrics remind us of sweet memories that we have stored of friendship, childhood days, adolescent years, carefree moments, enjoyable activities and feelings of being in love.  

For songs critics, they note that the beginning of the chorus for this song has hidden allusions to Britney Spears ("Oops"; "Better hit me, baby, one more time"), Jay-Z ("I got 99 problems"),*NSYNC ("Bye bye bye"), Dr. Dre ("Hold up") and Nelly ("If you wanna go and take a ride with me").
