Life Is Now Today, TODAY!

Life and death is like the ebb and flow of waves. People appear and disappear.

While we have life, let's not squander our time. We do not need the daily headlines in the news of tragedy to remind us that life is fragile and transient.

We are like the leaves on a tree which grow and flourish for a season before they become dislodged and fall to the ground.

While there is life, go out and seize the day and gather the rosebuds while ye may as Walt Whitman reminds.

Take out your musical instruments or whatever it is that serves as an avenue for your celebration of life and let loose. Make music, spread some happiness and invoke positive thoughts that life is good no matter the circumstances.

Life and time will not delay. Life is now, today, Today!

Imagination + Action = Success

We are the sum of our thoughts, including imagination. This may be true where our thoughts and creative ideas/images/concepts translate into corresponding actions.

We are the sum of our actions. However, we could end up saying or doing things which we do not intend.

What or who are we then? We are a hybrid of our thoughts and actions. When we are deeply convicted in our thoughts, we will work things out accordingly and realise our true self, undistorted, and become powerful as all our stars have become aligned, so to speak.

Let the words of J.K. Rowling inspire you to find greatness in the good stuffs that you are passionate about.

By the way, passion is not just about being interested in some endeavours. More than that, passion entails doing something which you are willing to suffer or sacrifice for even when there is no recognition or rewards. That is, until you are discovered! So, be encouraged to go for your it.

Click here for 13 Most-Inspiring J.K. Rowling Quotes to Make You Stronger by Shawn Lim at StunningMotivation.com, which are summarised as follows:

1. “It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.”

2. “We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better.”

3. “It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

4. “Failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me. Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena I believed I truly belonged.”

5. “I have never been remotely ashamed of having been depressed. Never. What’s to be ashamed of? I went through a really rough time and I am quite proud that I got out of that.”

6. “You’ve got to be prepared for hitting wrong notes occasionally, or quite a lot. That’s just part of the learning process. And read a lot. Reading a lot really helps. Read anything you can get your hands on.”

7. “Sometimes, you have to stop trying to force it, walk away and let your subconscious show you the way. Fill up on life for a while.”

8. “The world is full of wonderful things you haven’t seen yet. Don’t ever give up on the chance of seeing them.”

9. “Failure is so important. We speak about success all the time. It is the ability to resist failure or use failure that often leads to greater success.”

10. “Imagination is the foundation of all invention and innovation.”

11. “If someone asked for my recipe for happiness, step one would be finding out what you love doing most in the world and step two would be finding someone to pay you to do it.”

12. “The discipline involved in finishing a piece of creative work is something on which you can truly pride yourself.”

13. “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

May you see the light soon at the end of your tunnel and find good success. All the best to you, my dear readers. Never ever give up on your dream.

How To Find A New Balance

"Just Do It" is an inspirational slogan by NIKE that goes beyond the swish of a basketball.

With PUMA, you may wanna keep pushing forward and be "Forever Faster" (than the competition).

For accomplishment, go with ADIDAS where "Impossible Is Nothing". Daily Refreshing's spin on it would be: "Nobody does it like ADIDAS".

On a more tempered pace, "NEW BALANCE" could well enthuse you to find some balance and enjoy life anew beyond its initial mission of creating orthopedic products and specializing in arch supports.

Life offers a myriad of choices and paths.

Before you can have it all, decide on the kind of person you need to become in order to live the kind of life you want.

Click here for Tony Robbins: How to deal with STRESS and DEPRESSION - #MentorMeTony which contains the following pointers:

1. Decide to live in a beautiful state.
2. Raise your standards.
3. Better yourself.
4. Believe.
5. Find meaning in your life.

You Can Be Happy

"Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking." - Marcus Aurelius

"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature." - Marcus Aurelius

To the uninitiated, happiness may depend on happenings like a crutch. This would be sad as your happiness would then be subject to the toss and turns of relationship with other people, your opportunities or the lack it, and your entire external environment.

No doubt, there will be setbacks and disappointments in life. Paraphrasing from Marcus Aurelius' "Life is neither good or evil, but only a place for good and evil", you will find that life is neither happy or sad, but only a place for happiness or sadness.

Circumstances, including other people, are a given and may not be changed instantly. Whether you respond with happiness or sadness, your circumstances will not give you a hoot.

You are the one who suffer if you choose to to view your challenges negatively.

Therefore, choose happiness. Happiness is free and holds manifest benefits. Think yourself happy until you're happy!

P.S. Thank you for choosing to visit Daily Refreshing blog. Share your happiness and you will multiply it.

Measure What You Wanna Manage

If you wanna manage something, you need to pay attention to it and determine how to measure it.

Photo by Hudson Hintze on Unsplash

Let's say you want to curb your expenditure. What you could do would be to use Google sheets or an app to keep track of your daily expenditure so that you can analyse the bulk of your discretionary or non-essential expenses and then make a conscious decisions to cut back on them or buy cheaper alternatives.

If you want to have more personal time, you would need to be more conscious of what have been consuming your time. By your very act of measuring your time usage, you would be a better steward of time and become innovative in the use of time. For example, you could make use of idle time when queuing or travelling on public transport to do something productive like clearing emails or catching on news.

Same thing goes for your own happiness. That said you might wanna measure how many happiness habits you are able to cultivate based on the following clip.

Yup, taking Habit #1 of Being Grateful, why not start counting your blessing each day and name them one by one?
