If you still find it hard to figure out when an avocado is ripe enough for eating, then read on, or feel free to share in the comments section on your success with eating your avocado when they are ripe.
I used to try the roundish variety where you determine their degree of ripeness by looking at their gradation of colour from green to darker shades, but ended up opening them either under- or over-ripe.
Then, I explored the pear-shaped variety where they stay green and you determine their ripeness by feeling their transition of firmness from hard to soft. Place the avocado on the palm of your hand, and give it a gentle squeeze. If it is firm and hard, set it aside for another day.
When you can feel some softness (or even just a little softness) inside the avocado as you squeeze it, then the texture of the fruit would be soft and ripe enough for you to eat it. Enjoy.
And, when you see dark shades forming around the tip of the avocado, it is definitely ripe and ready for eating.
