Mind Your Happiness

Happiness happens in your mind. How your brain process and perceive events, circumstances and life at large followed by your consequential response will determine how you feel.

According to Dr Brady Salcido, "Your brain is the house your mind lives in. The brain is the most high-powered organ we have and requires the right amount and type of fuel to work properly. When we don’t give our brain the right fuel, it slows us down, dampers our focus, makes us more unhappy and unmotivated."

Power-packed Tissue Paper

This morning I found this discarded tissue pack on the grass turf beside a walkway. The wordings piqued me and made me pick up this piece of 'litter'.

Do you have a taste for Bossa Nova?

According to Wikipedia, "Bossa nova is a genre of Brazilian music, which was developed and popularized in the 1950s and 1960s and is today one of the best-known Brazilian music genres abroad. The phrase bossa nova means literally "new trend" or "new wave" (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈbɔsɐ ˈnɔvɐ]). A lyrical fusion of samba and jazz, bossa nova acquired a large following in the 1960s, initially among young musicians and college students."

Too Good To Be Bad

The power of an advertisement cannot be underestimated and when it is used well the value of your brand would be build up over a period of time.

For that to happen, your advertisement would have to leave an impression and, better still, remain etched in the mind and heart of the viewer. The following illustration is commendable.

Durian Is Not Fined Yet

If you have ever been caught in an enclosed room or space with the king of fruits, you would know the power of its stink notwithstanding that you enjoy eating its flesh.

Any guess as to what the fine might be if you trespass against the "No Durians" sign on the MRT in Singapore?

Apparently, the jury is still out on this formidable 'hazard' -- which is well-loved by many true-blue Singaporeans, tummy-wise.

Guard Your Attitude and Thinking

A bad and sour attitude can ruin your potential to live a full and enjoyable life. Guard it for dear life so that it does not form or become part of your heart or core values.
"Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life." - Proverbs 4:23 (AMP)
Photo by Elijah Hiett on Unsplash

Here are some insights on the far-reaches of attitude for your refreshing:

"Happiness doesn't depend on any external conditions, it is governed by our mental attitude." - Dale Carnegie

"Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character." - Albert Einstein

"Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude." - Zig Ziglar

"Take the attitude of a student, never be too big to ask questions, never know too much to learn something new." - Og Mandino

In the book The Art of Living by Bob Proctor with Sandra Gallagher, Bob shared the following advice with Sandra, his student then before becoming his business partner, the following nuggets on How To Maintain A Good Attitude:-

"1) Every morning think of ten things that you are grateful for.

2) When you finished writing the ten things down, send love to three people who are bothering you.

3) Be quiet for five minutes and ask guidance for the day."

For a snippet from an audio book version, click here for Bob Proctor, Sandra Gallagher - The Art of Living - Chapter 01.

Beyond attitude, you can move on to develop your thinking.

Click here also Bob Proctor - 💪The Most Powerful 30 Minutes Ever!!!💪 - The Law of Attraction for Dummies!

Rhonda Byrne, in her book The Magic, attests that, "Gratitude changed me, and my whole life magically changed." And, she has encapsulated The Magic Formula as follows:-

"1. Deliberately think and say the magic words, thank you

2. The more you deliberately think and say the magic words, thank you, the more gratitude you feel.

3. The more gratitude you deliberately think and feel, the more abundance you receive."

As you keep learning and change both your attitude and thinking, your life will be changed for the better, moving forward. May you have it all, in due course, and get to share your enjoyment of life.

Righting Chocolate

Chocolate is chocolate. There is no such thing as dark chocolate. Milk chocolate is a variation or blend of chocolate.

I believe Tesco got it right when they refer to authentic chocolate as plain chocolate. This is one step forward to name pure chocolate as chocolate eventually.

Dark chocolate is an oxymoron which ought to be banished from our dictionary and publication. Way to go, Tesco and the likes.

Afterthought:

"If I want to be free, I've got to be me. Not the me I think you think I should be. Not the me I think my wife thinks I should be. Not the me I think my kids think I should be. If I want to be free, I've got to be me. And, I better know who me is." -- Bill Gove

Finding Your Freedom

Unless you are in a war zone, you have a lot of freedom going for you that you may have taken for granted such as freedom to access the internet, take a walk in the park and make your own choices.

Photo by Rémi Jacquaint on Unsplash
However, there may still be some lingering constraints on your freedom to live the life that you wanna live within the boundaries of what is legal, moral and civil.

Click here for Don't Allow Your Life To Be Controlled By These 5 Things, namely:

1. Your PAST.
2. OTHER peoples opinions and judgements.
3. Limited BELIEFS you project on yourself.
4. RELATIONSHIPS.
5. MONEY.

Divine vs. Supreme

You may wanna start a new brand of t-shirts called "Divine". Armed with this knowledge of a possible brand name in the making, you will need the expertise or knowhow to sustain this spark of an idea to generate your fashion statement and develop commercial success.

Photo by João Silas on Unsplash
The groundwork has to be done and here is where the 10,000 hours rule, made famous by Malcolm Gladwell in his book Outliers, comes in handy as a general guide. He opined that "ten thousand hours is the magic number of greatness."

Later, he added that, "There is a lot of confusion about the 10,000 rule that I talk about in Outliers. It doesn't apply to sports. And practice isn't a SUFFICIENT condition for success. I could play chess for 100 years and I'll never be a grandmaster. The point is simply that natural ability requires a huge investment of time in order to be made manifest."

Before you can make it like Supreme t-shirts, you will have to put in the hours and pull out all the stops to create your unique range of products and test market it way before you come to the stage of launching a full scale marketing programme or setting up shop.

Keep pursuing your dream and don't give up. It will become an 'overnight' success after your many, many nights of working on it.

Boyce Avenue Is In Their Element

Boyce Avenue does covers of popular songs noticeably well; so well that the Alejandro Luis Manzano's voice kinda mimics those of the original singers. And, they have enriched their reach with cover collaborations.

According to Wikipedia, "Boyce Avenue is an American pop and rock band formed in Sarasota, Florida, by brothers Alejandro Luis Manzano, Daniel Enrique Manzano, and Fabian Rafael Manzano."

May you find your element, too, if not already found, and take flight as with Boyce Avenue.

Would You Rather Gamble or Invest?

One of the most commonplace queue in Singapore can be found at Singapore Pools where hopefuls part with their hard-earned cash in exchange for the chance to catch a windfall.

Waiting to place their bets at an outlet of Singapore Pools
Why do they gamble? Short answer is that they do not know better regarding how to increase their earning propensity.

While both gambling and investing involve taking risks and making choices, gambling operates under a fixed timeline and there is nary any option to mitigate your losses once you have placed your bets.

With regards to investing such as shares investment, for example, there is a steep learning curve. You can learn from textbook on the various approaches to value the shares of a company (Book Value approach, Equity and Debt approach, Discounted Cash Flow approach, Comparative Valuation approach and Option Valuation approach) and measurement methods (e.g. price-to-earnings ratio, price-to-book ratio, dividend yield ratio and net assets value per share).

However, there is a vast difference between mere head knowledge as opposed to knowhow or expertise which is acquired through studies and experience. Warren Buffet says that you don’t have to be a genius to be a good investor, but there is a lot of hard work and due diligence involved, including playing by some trusty investing rules to be successful.

He went on to say, “The most important investment you can make is in yourself.”

Speaking of  investing in yourself, Bob Proctor will have you know that you were born rich.
