Ending The Day Right By You

Do you spend time with yourself at the end of the day? Or, is it spent with a Netflix show, BBC documentary, listening to radio, reading a book, chatting with a friend, or media-binging on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and so forth?

When you shut out the external stimuli, you would be able to listen to an inner dialogue with yourself. This is when you can download from your mind: what you need to get done; what is bothering you; and what you can do better.

1.    What You Need To Get Done

At the end of your day, list out all the things you need to get done by timeframe:  short-term, medium-term and long-term; tomorrow, this week, next week, next month and so forth. If you have a planner, you can enter them in the calendar.

This exercise is empowering as you can now visualise what you need to do and when to get them done. At a glance you can now see them and do not have to rack your brain and drain your mental energy. If you have new items, you just add them onto the list.

This habit will also help you to stay focus on the things to be done and, thereby, make you more mindful of your time and prioritise the use of your time, accordingly. You will then no longer be drifting and draining away your time like people who are clueless as to what to do with their spare time.

2.
    What Is Bothering You

At the end of your day, face your fears or worries by writing them down in a diary. Spelling them out help you to define and pinpoint the true cause of what is bothering you.

Then reflect on how these fears could be overcome. Is there something that you could do to alleviate or vanquish the fears? Is there someone who could intervene to deal with any of the fears or concerns on your behalf? Can also look for help by searching for online resources from trustworthy sources.

Praying to God (your Creator) and casting all your cares upon Him would certainly help.

"Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, [once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully (1 Peter 5:6-7; AMPC)."

3. What You Can Do Better

Did you lose your temper over a trivial matter today? Did you gossip or encourage others to share theirs with you? Can you be better prepared for the opportunity that you missed today so that you will be ready for the next opportunity or similar possible good fortunes for the taking in future?

What are the lessons presented to you from your lapses or mistakes? By learning from these shortfalls, you will be better prepared to pass the testing when it recurs.

Give yourself some self-love; your good self deserves this. By ending the day right by you, you will be poised to live life forward with less encumbrances and do better with hindsight.
