Have You Found the Purpose of Your Life?

Children will invariably get to answer the question of: "What do you want to do when you grow up?" With enthusiasm they will chipped in with answers such as doctor, fireman or footballer.

As they grow up to become teenagers they would next grapple with the question of: "What vocation or academic qualification should I embark on?"

Then as they started working, they become entangled with the demands of work be it as an employee or a business owner with the desire to be successful in life. And, the goals in life will gravitate to life 'sentences' such as: "I want to get a promotion or fat bonus in recognition of my contribution"; "I want to make a lot of money"; and "I must expand my business and dominate the industry".

There is nothing amiss in the aforesaid goals, but they are a case in point of 'putting the cart before the horse'.

I believe that our purpose in life is not so much to be a doctor or make a lot of money as it is, foremost, to serve others without the fear of losing out. Give and it shall be given back to you. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

When you focus on providing excellent product or service in whatever you do for the benefit of your client or customer, you will in due season be recognised and rewarded, in return.

If your service or product is top-notch, the crowd will follow, ceteris paribus. So, you can have noodle seller who is thriving while another is floundering. Hey, the ingredients they use may even be similar, but their handling of those ingredients plus their customer service will determine the size of their customer base.

Indeed, when you are excellent in what you do, you will even serve before kings and queens as they become your customers as well as politicians, celebrities and social influencers (all good for your branding). 

As you hone your technical and communication skills so as to serve your customer excellently, you will distinguish yourself by becoming a holistic expert in your field. Recently, a barista was overheard saying, "I come to work, not to greet others 'Good morning'." Ouch.
