There are not many book stores left in Singapore as the world marches on with digitisation. 

If you like to get your hand on a book in physical format, then Ana Book Store is worth a visit with its treasure trove of preloved books and magazines.

And, if you have the time to browse, you will certainly be able to find some good books that attract your interest. Alternatively, you could ask the proprietor, who goes by the moniker "Mr Bean", to assist you with your quest.

My picks for the day are as follows:

You can reach Ana Book Store in a jiffy by taking the lifts in front of Far East Plaza instead of the escalators inside the shopping centre.

There is quite a good spread of seats available, including some stools by the see-through window panel. 

While seated at the window enjoying your cuppa and pastry, you would probably notice frequent marques entering and exiting the nearby public housing carpark.

The star of this neighbourhood that is attracting the rich and famous to come by in their sleek cars is the famed Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle (bak chor mee) which was awarded a Michelin Star in 2021. With good food comes the attendant long queue which they take in their strides like everyone else. Food, when done well, can be such a unifying factor.
